All you need to know about teeth flakes
Nowadays, the more popular teeth flakes are placed at the very top of dental aesthetics. In a multitude of whitening and new materials, the majority still decides for a permanent solution. What’s the matter, who can put them and how they are made read below.
What are teeth flakes?
Teeth flakes, as the name suggests, are thin “chunks” made of ceramic or composite material. They are made individually. It is necessary to grind the thin layer of the tooth (front and part of the side surface of the tooth) and taking the prints by which a negative mouth situation is obtained and based on it are made the flakes. Finished flakes made by dental technicians in the dental laboratory are cemented into the previously flattened portion of the tooth.
What we solve using flakes?
With flakes we can solve a lot of “problems” such as changes in the color of the teeth, teeth damage (stinging inside the enamel and so on), improper position of the teeth. Also, they can serve as a protection of the surface of the teeth from further damage, “closing” the diastema (naturally spaced teeth).
Generally speaking, by using them we can improve the look of the smile and solve today’s very important aesthetic issues.
What are the benefits of flakes?
The biggest advantage, if you decide on the variant of the flakes is that the color is persistent, there is no “return” of color as when we bleaching the teeth. Ceramic faces are so well developed today that it is almost impossible to detect that the teeth are not natural. In addition to all these cosmic effects, the most important advantage is the solution to the problem of the personal nature and the psychological effect. The surface of the tooth and the lateral surface are removed, not the whole tooth.
What are disadvantages of flakes?
Like all in this world, unfortunately there are also disadvantages of flakes. The first disadvantage is grinding and the predilection sites for the emergence of caries. Since artificial material is in the mouth and must be cemented, there are microprostures where bacteria can enter. Which brings us to the next disadvantage. Realistically speaking, people who carry minimal oral hygiene (only toothpastes and toothbrushes) should be extended to the dental floss and the inter-dental brush is most often ignored, but I have decided to put it in the “disadvantage” section. Also, forget to drop the food claim, candies and so on because there is a risk that the flake will crack. Given all the above, you must be an ideal candidate and be sure to consult with your chosen dental team.
Flakes, yes or no?
As with any aesthetic intervention in dental medicine, it is a matter of taste and personal choice. Flakes as a solution are not a bad option if there is an aesthetic problem that is both physical and a psychological nature. I have already written, but I will repeat: “Today, dental aesthetics is so good that chances are almost impossible to detect that teeth are not natural.” Therefore, if you are an ideal candidate and want to solve your problem once and for all, bridges and crowns, rubbing the complete tooth, I believe the flakes are an ideal solution for you.
